This is a BETA of using google maps to display the Gun Free School Zones as codified in 18 USC 922(q).

I make no guarantees that this information is accurate or complete!

The circle size is 1000 feet. Be warned that this is from the GPS coordinates that the school address coorelates to, and the property of the school itself is probably larger in one direction or more, so the actual area may be larger in some directions. Without a lot more effort and exact geometric shapes and coordinates of each and every school I cannot know exactly how large their property is and what shape it is, so I cannot make perfectly accurate marks.

  • Added scrollwheel zoom in map mode
  • Added some additional code to try to remove some of the memory leaks that are in at least Internet Explorer, and maybe other browsers, hopefully this will be more friendly to your system
  • Added a throttled loading system to reduce the impact of the initial load
  • Added a fadeout location control in the top right, and a search bar in the lower left (you can get driving directions if you click on a marker that is returned from a search result)
