These jumpers are different from what I was talking about in the email. The schematics for the radio come with the radio. J27 is by the ground screw of the radio. If you remove the top cover of the radio and look at the rear by the ground screw you will see silkscreened on the board J27 and a diagram showing which setting is TXREQ and which is TXGND.

> > > Hi Mike,
> > >
> > > You're not alone! HRD polls the radio every few hundred milliseconds,
> > > which is a lot of serial activity. Toroids on the USB and/or CAT cable
> > > can help, but may not kill it all. I've gotten rid of it on most
> > > bands, but Murphy's law says it will always be present wherever you're
> > > trying to work. :-)
> > >
> >
> > the easiest way I have found is to properly ground the radio, then open
> > the top cover. At the back of the radio almost dead center is a jumper,
> > marked J27 on the board (J1027 on the schematics). Set it to TXGND
> > instead of the default TXREQ, the silkscreening tells you which position
> > is which. Close it back up. Most if not all the noise should just
> > vanish when using cables, at least it did for me.

if you modify the jumpers like this
O= Open
C= Closed(Shorted/jumped)
3 2 1 6 5 4 9 8 7
O O O C O O C C C
reset radio:
hold in [F]+[V/M] and turn on the radio
you will get full tx

1.8MHz to 56MHz
137MHz to 164MHz
420MHz to 470MHz

I have done this mod on my ft-897D and on my FT-817nd works great.

Tks.
