FT-897 & FT-857 Jumper Settings
by trixter on Feb.07, 2010, under Yaesu FT-897
I obtained the following information from an image scan of a Yaesu document. This information has been available for some time, although I have yet to find it anywhere in plain text so I am providing it here. Any typos are surely mine, although I did fix what I thought were some typos in the original document. In any case, if there is a conflict of information between this version and the original, the original should be assumed to be more accurate.
This came out of research into a software mod for the FT-897 and FT-857 radios. I know based on my memory map where to write the data, I just wanted that data to be easier to figure out what is proper and what is not.
Use of this information should only be done if it is legal where you are. Modification of radios can be illegal in some jurisdictions, and there is also the risk of damage to your radio if you modify it. I take no responsibility for others accessing this information or using this information.

Errata
Newer radios do not allow for a direct memory write. I do not know when the cut off was, I will try to post valid known working and known not working serials to try to narrow it down.
Jumpers 1004, 1005, and 1006 are not listed on the original document, however they appear to be geographically based. 1006 for example is set for US and AU models and not set for DE and FR models. Additionally, 1006 enables menu 50 which is the Alaskan emergency frequency.
